When it comes to negotiating there are few more experienced than Chris Voss. Voss worked his way up the chain at the FBI, becoming a key negotiator for hostages and more. He tells us the best training he ever got, bar none, was as a volunteer on a suicide hotline. It actually got him the job as a negotiator.
Voss investigated the World Trade Center bombing and the TWA Flight 800 explosion. He became the FBI's chief international hostage and kidnapping negotiator from 2003 to 2007.
He learned his trade well. After leaving the Bureau after 24 years, he eventually opened Black Swan Group. Here he puts his skills to work for big and little companies, turning their negotiations into big profits.
He lectures quite a bit as well and is an adjunct professor at Georgetown University and lectures at USC (Southern Cal). As a graduate of Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, his credentials are impeccable.
Chris Voss has a story and a plan you must take into account whether you have an upcoming negotiation or just want to be better at making that deal. In 2016 Voss co-authored the book, Never Split the Difference: Negotiating As If Your Life Depended On It.
You may be surprised to find out who his choices are for the best "negotiators" in the world today. Check it out when you download the podcast "Interesting People with Bob Brill," because Chris Voss is definitely an interesting person you will want to know.
